Magic Goes Wrong to reopen in West End at the Apollo Theatre in October

Magic Goes Wrong will reopen in London’s West End in October 2021.

The Mischief Theatre Company production will play at the Apollo Theatre from 21 October 2021 through to 27 February 2022.

The comedy play follows a group of hapless magicians as they try to stage a charity fundraising event but find their tricks ruined by a string of unforeseeable accidents that spiral out of control.

Magic Goes Wrong is written by Mischief Theatre Company’s Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, Henry Shields together with American magician duo Penn & Teller.

Adam Meggido directs the show which has designs by Will Bowen, costume designs by Roberto Surace, lighting design by David Howe, sound design by Paul Groothuis and video and projection design by Duncan McLean. Completing the creative team are magic consultant Ben Hart, composer Steve Brown, movement director Ali James and associate director Hannah Sharkey.

The show originally opened in December 2019 before being forced to close in March last year due to the theatre shutdown. A planned return at the Vaudeville Theatre was cancelled due to the second lockdown.

Casting for the new run is to be announced.

Alongside the West End run, a Magic Goes Wrong tour begins performances this week.

Meanwhile Mischief Theatre’s The Play That Goes Wrong reopened in the West End last month, currently playing to socially distanced audiences.
