New musical You Are Here to premiere at the Southwark Playhouse

New musical You Are Here is to premiere at the Southwark Playhouse in May.

The piece, which will star Wendi Peters, is described as an “intimate, hilarious and heart-breaking tour-de-force musical that will leave you cheering for the resilience of the human spirit.”

The musical has Music & Lyrics by Neil Bartram and Book by Brian Hill with a synopsis sharing: “July 20, 1969. On the night of the moon landing, Chicago housewife Diana (Wendi Peters) walks out of her comfortable suburban life for no real reason. She sees the astronauts taking that great step and is struck by the realisation that some people lead exciting lives.

“Suddenly alone in a fast-changing world, she finds a series of unexpected encounters can turn one small step into a giant, life-changing leap. ”

Further casting includes Rebecca McKinnis, Phil Adéle and Jordan Frazier.

You Are Here will play at the Southwark Playhouse between 17 May and 12 June with either online or with in-person audiences depending on the rules in place at the time.

If in-person performances are permitted, there will still be a live stream option available on May 22.

You can purchase tickets for performances from the Southwark Playhouse website here.

The production will be directed by Matthew Rankcom with Musical Director Laura Bangay, Movement Director Amie Hibbert, Set & Costume Designer Libby Todd, Lighting Designer Jai Morjaria, Sound Designer Charles Parry, Design Assistant Ana Webb-Sanchez, Stage Manager Orla Reeve Daly, Associate Director Samantha Dye and Associate Producer & Casting by Laura Loutit.
