The Bridges of Madison County will hold its UK premiere this July at the Menier Chocolate Factory.
The Tony Award-winning musical played Broadway in 2014 and features a score by Jason Robert Brown and book by Marsha Norman.
It’s based on Robert James Waller’s 1992 novel of the same name that tells the story of a married Italian-American woman living on a farm in Madison County, Iowa and her affair with a photographer working in the area.
Trevor Nunn will direct with design by Jon Bausor, lighting by Tim Lutkin, sound by Gregory Clarke and musical supervision and direction from Tom Murray.
The Bridges of Madison County will run from 12 July to 14 September with an official opening night on 23 July.
Performance schedule will see shows Tuesday-Saturday at 8PM with 3:30PM matinees on Saturday and Sunday. There will be no matinees on Saturday 13th July, Sunday 14th July, Sunday 21st July & 28th July, with additional performances on Monday 15th & 22nd July at 8pm.
The cast will be led by Jenna Russell as Francesca with Ed Baker-Duly as Robert, Georgia Brown as Chiara/Ginny/State Fair Singer, Maddison Bulleyment as Carolyn, Shanay Holmes as Marian, Gillian Kirkpatrick as Marge, Paul F Monaghan as Charlie, David Perkins as Michael and Dale Rapley as Bud.
Tickets went on general sale Monday 13th May.
The original Broadway cast included Kelli O’Hara, Steven Pasquale, Hunter Foster, Cass Morgan, Michael X. Martin, Derek Klena, Caitlin Kinnunen and Whitney Bashor.
The production picked up four Tony nominations winning both Best Score and Best Orchestrations for Brown’s work. Other nominations were for Donald Holder’s lightning design and O’Hara’s leading actress role.
