9 to 5: The Musical extends to 2020 in London’s West End
9 To 5: The Musical has extended its run in London’s West End until April 2020.
The musical has dubbed today – May 9 – as ‘9/5 day’ to announce the news that 300,000 new tickets were now on sale.
With a score written by country music icon Dolly Parton, 9 To 5 The Musical is based on the 1980s comedy movie of the same name, which Dolly starred in.
It tells the story of workmates Doralee, Violet and Judy who push back against sexist supervisor Franklin Hart. The Oscar, Grammy and Tony award-nominated score features some of Parton’s biggest hits, including the legendary ‘9 to 5’, as well as original songs written for the show.
Parton said today: “I couldn’t think of a better date to announce that the West End run of the show will be extending in to 2020 with a further 300,000 tickets now on sale, that’s almost more tickets than I have rhinestones on my outfits!”
