Caroline Sheen to return to 9 to 5 the Musical cast in London’s West End

Caroline Sheen will return to the role of Violet Newstead in 9 to 5 the Musical’s London cast.

She will replace Louise Redknapp in the role from July 4.

Sheen’s stage credits include Les Misérables, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.

She said: “So excited to be going back to this wonderful role and the most lovely cast of people! Can’t wait!!”

The actress previously played the role of Violet between January and March after Redknapp was forced out of the show before opening night due to an injury earlier this year.

Redknapp will play her final performance on June 29. Lucinda Lawrence will play the role of Violet between July 1 and 3.

Sheen will join a cast that includes Amber Davies as ‘Judy Bernly’, Natalie McQueen as ‘Doralee Rhodes’, Bonnie Langford as ‘Roz Keith’ and Brian Conley as ‘Franklin Hart’.

Completing the current cast are Victoria Anderson, Alexander Bartles, Ashford Campbell, Simon Campbell, Rhiane Drummond, Demmileigh Foster, Llandyll Gove, Lucinda Lawrence, Jenny Legg, Christopher Jordan Marshall, Jacob Maynard, Natasha Mould, Sean Needham, Jon Reynolds, James Royden-Lyley, Giles Surridge, Sasha Wareham and Emily Woodford.

With a score written by country music icon Dolly Parton, 9 To 5 The Musical is based on the 1980s comedy movie of the same name, which Dolly starred in.

It tells the story of workmates Doralee, Violet and Judy who push back against sexist supervisor Franklin Hart.

Earlier this month, the show announced it was extending its West End run until 2020. The musical dubbed May 9 – as ‘9/5 day’ to announce the news that 300,000 new tickets were now on sale.

Parton said: “I couldn’t think of a better date to announce that the West End run of the show will be extending in to 2020 with a further 300,000 tickets now on sale, that’s almost more tickets than I have rhinestones on my outfits!”

Alongside the West End extension, a second UK tour will begin in September.

Casting for the tour has yet to be confirmed.
