Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella cast album has debuted at Number 1 on the Official Compilations Chart.

The album was released last Friday as the new musical premiered in the West End.

The show features music from Webber with lyrics by David Zippel and an original story and book by Emerald Fennel.

Teased as a new, modern spin on the all time classic fairytale, Cinderella stars Carrie Hope Fletcher stars in the title role with Victoria Hamilton-Barritt as the Stepmother. Further cast includes Ivano Turco plays Prince Sebastian, brother to Prince Charming, Gloria Onitiri plays the Godmother and Laura Baldwin and Georgina Castle play the Stepsisters.

They all feature in the cast recording together with guest vocalists Helen George, Adam Lambert and Todrick Hall.

Speaking to OfficialCharts.com, Andrew Lloyd Webber said: “I am thrilled that the Cinderella album is Number 1. It was recorded in lockdown, mainly at home and long before the show was able to open.

“To see audiences finally loving the show and people listening to the album means a huge amount to me and all of the people who have worked so hard to bring Cinderella to the stage in the most difficult circumstances I have ever worked in. I hope to see you at the Gillian Lynne Theatre soon.”

The Official Compilations Chart is compiled weekly by the Official Charts Company, tracking UK sales of multi-artist compilation albums, original soundtracks and motion picture cast recordings.
