Jerusalem is to return to the West End for a limited run starring Mark Rylance and Mackenzie Crook.
Ian Rickson’s production of Jez Butterworth’s Jerusalem will run at the Apollo Theatre from 16 April to 6 August 2022.
Tickets go on general sale from 16 August 2021 at 10AM. The run will see over 800 seats priced at £15 or less each week with further discounted education rates of £25 for student tickets.
Mark Rylance and Mackenzie Crook will reprise their acclaimed roles as Johnny ‘Rooster’ Byron and Ginger respectively, with further casting to be announced.
The play first premiered in 2009 before multiple sold-out West End runs as well as a run on Broadway. It last ran in the West End in 2011 before productions in San Francisco and Toronto.
The 2022 production will see the return of the original creative team including designer Ultz, lighting designer Mimi Jordan Sherin, composer Stephen Warbeck, sound designer Ian Dickinson for Autograph and casting director Amy Ball CDG.
On St George’s Day, the morning of the local county fair, Johnny Byron is a wanted man. The Council officials want to serve him an eviction notice, his son wants his dad to take him to the fair, Troy Whitworth wants to wreak his revenge and a motley crew of mates wants his ample supply of drugs and alcohol.
News of the revival was first announced in 2020, originally planned for 2021 prior to the pandemic.
