Starring Amy Adams, The Glass Menagerie revival will begin performances at Duke of York’s Theatre on 23 May 2022 with tickets on sale now.
The Glass Menagerie will play at London’s Duke of York’s Theatre from 23 May 2022 currently booking through to 27 August 2022. The standard performance is schedule Monday – Saturday Evening at 7:30PM with matinees on Thursday & Saturday at 2:30PM.
Six time Academy Award nominated Adams will take on the role of matriarch Amanda Wingfield in Tennessee Williams’ piece which is directed by Jeremy Herrin (Wolf Hall Trilogy, People Places and Things, This House).
Paul Hilton (The Inheritance, Lady Macbeth, A Very British Scandal), Tom Glynn-Carney (The Ferryman, Dunkirk), Lizzie Annis and Victor Alli complete the stellar cast.
Shattered by her husband’s abandonment, Amanda Wingfield’s steely focus remains locked on her future security and that of her children, Tom and Laura. Her determination collides with her children’s dreams and ambitions.
While Tom feels trapped by his life in St Louis, the pressure Amanda forces upon her daughter to secure her future is crushing both their relationship and Laura’s fragile self-esteem. As attentions quickly turn to securing a suitor for Laura, the fine thread that connects dignity to desperation is pulled taut.
Adams said: “I am so honoured and excited to be a part of bringing The Glass Menagerie to the stage in the West End! I have always felt a strong pull towards the work of Tennessee Williams and to this deeply personal story.
“I am so grateful to be working with the brilliant Jeremy Herrin and with all of the talented cast and creative team. I look forward to the shared experience of theatre. See you in 2022!”
