Moulin Rouge! The Musical has revealed its original West End cast!

Based on the 2001 film of the same name directed by Baz Luhrmann and written by Luhrmann and Craig Pearce, Moulin Rouge The Musical will come to the stage in London later this year with tickets on sale here.

The jukebox musical follows Christian who falls in love with actress and courtesan Satine, star of Paris cabaret venue Moulin Rouge.

The stage adaptation, which first debuted on Broadway in 2019 features a book by John Logan with a pop rock score made up of songs from artists ranging from Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Sia, Katy Perry and Beyonce to Elton John, Rihanna, The White Stripes and Lorde.

Liisi LaFontaine will star as Satine with Jamie Bogyo set to play Christian.

They’re joined on the cast by Elia Lo Tauro as Santiago, Sophie Carmen Jones as Nini, Simon Bailey as the Duke, Jason Pennycooke as Toulouse Lautrec, Johnny Bishop as Baby Doll, Zoe Birkett as Arabia, Timmika Ramsay as La Chocolat and Clive Carter as Harold Zidler.

Completing the cast are Femi Akinfolarin, Robson Broad, Ian Carlyle, Jonathan Cordin, Anthony Cragg, Katie Ella Dunsden, Adam Gillian, Luke Jackson, Alicia Mencía, Ciro Lourencio Meulens, Georgia Morgan, Melissa Nettleford, Ian Oswald, Craig Ryder, Tinovimbanashe Sibanda, Katie Singh, Ope Sowande, Tanisha Spring, Toyan Thomas-Browne, Amy Thornton, Misty May Tindall, Jon Tsouras, Tommy Wade-Smith and Lily Wang.

Director Alex Timbers said: “Creating Moulin Rouge! The Musical has been a singularly thrilling and unique experience.

“I am delighted today to announce the incredible group of actors who will bring this production to life in London. We have brought together a thrilling, hugely talented group of artists, and in Liisi and Jamie, we have two outstanding actors to lead our company. We are all so excited to now start creating the show for UK audiences!”

Nominated for 14 Tony awards including Best Musical, Best Director, and Best Choreography, the breath-taking Moulin Rouge! The Musical comes to London’s West End in Autumn 2021.

Performances will begin on Friday, 12 November 2021 at the Piccadilly Theatre, directed by Timbers with choreography by Sonya Tayeh and music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Justin Levine.

The standard performance schedule is 7:30PM Monday-Saturday and 2:30PM matinees on Wednesday and Saturdays. The show is currently booking through to April 2022.
