A new production of hit musical Legally Blonde is to play at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.
The London venue has announced that its 2022 season will kick off with the show, directed by Six The Musical’s co-creator Lucy Moss.
The musical will run from 13 May to 2 July 2022 with tickets on sale here.
The full creative team features casting by Pippa Ailion CDG and Natalie Gallacher CDG for Pippa Ailion Casting, casting assistant Shanaé Chisholm, musical supervision by Cat Beveridge, sound design by Tony Gayle and choreography by Ellen Kane.
Based on the hit 2001 movie of the same name starring Reese Witherspoon, Legally Blonde The Musical features songs by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin and book by Heather Hach.
It tells the story of sorority girl Elle Woods who heads to Harvard Law School in a bid to win back her boyfriend, defying expectations to prove you can be both smart and fashionable.
The stage adaption first premiered on Broadway in 2007, picking up seven Tony Awards. A West End production opened in 2011, winning a trio of Olivier Awards including Best Musical and Best Actress for Sheridan Smith in the lead role. An original West End cast recording is available here.
Other shows making up Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s 2022 season include its postponed 101 Dalmatians musical, playing 12 July to 28 August.
