Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has announced its 2022 season.

Running from May to September next year, the season will feature a new production of Legally Blonde, a new musical adaptation of 101 Dalmatians and a modern retelling of the epic Antigone.


Here’s what to expect:

Legally Blonde (13 May to 2 July) – BUY TICKETS
The 2022 season will kick off with a new production of hit musical Legally Blonde, directed by Six The Musical’s co-creator Lucy Moss. Based on the hit 2001 movie of the same name starring Reese Witherspoon, Legally Blonde The Musical features Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin and book by Heather Hach.

Six star Courtney Bowman will lead the Legally Blonde musical cast as Elle Woods.

The full creative team features casting by Pippa Ailion CDG and Natalie Gallacher CDG for Pippa Ailion Casting, musical supervision by Cat Beveridge, sound design by Tony Gayle and choreography by Ellen Kane.

101 Dalmatians (12 July – 28 August) – BUY TICKETS
The new musical adaption of Dodie Smith’s novel was postponed from 2020 due to the pandemic. The piece features a book by Johnny McKnight and music and lyrics by Douglas Hodge based on a stage adaptation by Zinnie Harris. The production is directed by Timothy Sheader, with puppetry designed and directed by Toby Olié.

The 101 Dalmatians musical cast will star Tony and Olivier Award nominated Kate Fleetwood in the iconic role of Cruella de Vil.


Further creatives include set design from Colin Richmond, costume design from Katrina Lindsay, choreography from Liam Steel, music supervision and orchestrations from Sarah Travis, lighting from Howard Hudson, musical direction from Tarek Merchant, assistant choreographer Tash Holway, sound design from Nick Lidster for Autograph (sound designer) and costume design by Katrina Lindsay. The casting director is Jill Green CDG with Verity Naughton & Nick Hockaday for Verity Naughton Casting as children’s casting director

Antigone (3 – 24 September) – BUY TICKETS
A brand new, modern retelling of the epic story about a torn family. The piece has been written by Inua Ellams and will be directed by Max Webster.

The full creative team includes choreography by Carrie-Anne Ingrouille, casting director Polly Jerrold, sound design by Emma Laxton, composer Shez Manzoor, costume design by Khadija Raza, set design by Leslie Travers and associate director.

Creatives working across the season are casting assistant Shanaé Chisholm, voice and text director Barbara Houseman and intimacy support Ingrid Mackinnon.
