Moulin Rouge! The Musical in the West End is set to reopen tonight (13 December).
The show recently became the latest to be disrupted due to the pandemic as the West End battles to return to normal following an almost total closure for 18 months.
The production was forced to cancel shows for more than a week due to positive Covid tests within the cast and crew.
Having rehearsed more understudies and flown in talent from the US, the show will go on from Monday, 13 December.
The musical’s official opening night, previously scheduled for 8 December, will now take place on 9 January 2022.
In a post on social media, the show said: “We are so grateful for your patience and well-wishes over the last week, and can’t wait to welcome you back! Thank you in advance for playing your part in keeping each other safe.”
As per new government guidelines, masks are mandatory throughout the venue.
The current West End cast of Moulin Rouge! is led by Liisi LaFontaine as Satine with Jamie Bogyo set to play Christian.
They’re joined by Elia Lo Tauro as Santiago, Sophie Carmen Jones as Nini, Simon Bailey as the Duke, Jason Pennycooke as Toulouse Lautrec, Johnny Bishop as Baby Doll, Zoe Birkett as Arabia, Timmika Ramsay as La Chocolat and Clive Carter as Harold Zidler.
