First look at new cast of Wicked as Lucie Jones stars as Elphaba

Here’s a first look at Lucie Jones as Elphaba as she prepares to takeover the iconic role.

The West End star will lead the new cast of Wicked in London from February.

The company will also feature Ryan Reid (Fiyero), Sophie-Louise Dann (Madame Morrible) and Gary Wilmot (The Wizard) with Helen Woolf (Glinda) returning from maternity leave.

They will be joined by continuing cast Carina Gillespie (Nessarose), Nicholas McLean (Boq), Simeon Truby (Doctor Dillamond), Amy Webb (Standby for Elphaba) and Charli Baptie (Standby for Glinda – Maternity cover for Lisa-Anne Wood).

Lucie recently shared how she had auditioned for Wicked 11 times in ten years.

“Persistence is key, my friend…” Lucie told The Stage before admitting to being “terrified” about taking on the iconic role.

As well as Waitress, Lucie’s stage credits include leading roles in RENT, Legally Blonde and Les Misérables.

The new cast of Wicked begin performances on 1 February 2022.
