Musical Con: New musical theatre fan convention to take place in London in October

Musical Con – the UK’s first ever musical theatre fan convention – will take place in London this October.

The epic new event will run 22 – 23 October 2022 at ExCel London with tickets on sale now from www.musicalcon.co.uk.

Ambassadors for the event are West End superstars Aimie Atkinson, Kerry Ellis, Alice Fearn, Ben Forster, Jodie Steele, Trevor Dion Nicholas, Omari Douglas, Shanay Holmes, Jenna Russell and Layton Williams.

Over 30 special guests have also been announced, including musical theatre supergroup SVN (Millie O’Connell, Natalie May Paris, Grace Mouat, Alexia McIntosh, Jarneia Richard-Noel, Maiya Quansah-Breed), Kelly Agbowu, Jocasta Almgill, Luke Bayer, Nikki Bentley, Lauren Byrne, Maddison Bullyment, Tarinn Callender, Lauren Drew, Hiba Elchikhe, Emma Hatton, Sophie Isaacs, Cassidy Janson, Aisha Jawando, Idriss Kargbo, Emma Kingston, Bobby Little, Carl Mann, Jason Pennycooke, Laura Pick, Karl Queensborough, Jon Robyns, Sharon Rose, Charlie Stemp, Ivano Turco, Michael Xavier and Mitch Zhangazha.

Joining them are are Adam Garcia, David Bedella, Louise Dearman, Miriam Teak Lee, Victoria Hamilton-Barritt, Courtney Bowman, Collette Guitart, Shaka Macfarlane, Joel Montague, Jordan Shaw, Tosh
Wanogho-Maud, Michael Duke, Craig Gallivan and Hannah Lowther.

Also appearing will be leading creatives including co-writer of Six Toby Marlow, Heathers choreographer Gary Lloyd and Rent choreographer Tom Jackson Greaves.

What to expect from Musical Con!

There will be plenty for fans to enjoy and take part in across the weekend with a number of themed areas.

The Main Stage will see unique performances, surprise cast reunions, interviews, Q&As, discussion panels and show spotlights.

At Stage Door fans will be able to meet their favourite stage stars with the opportunity for meet & greets, photos and autograph opportunities.

In Theatreland will be interactive show experiences, a marketplace full of stalls selling fandom merch and memorabilia, shops selling musical theatre clothing and accessories, and even a musical theatre themed café.

And in the Backstage area, there will be the opportunity to take part in musical theatre workshops and masterclasses as well as talks by cast & creatives. There will also be a contest to find ‘the UK’s next musical theatre star’ who will get the chance to perform on the main stage.

Plus, fans will also have their time on the spotlight with an epic cosplay competition, musical lip-sync battles and show sing-alongs.

A full programming schedule is to be announced.

Kerry Ellis said: “It’s such a fantastic idea. I don’t know why it hasn’t been done before.”

Ben Forster added: “This is our chance to say thank you to everyone who has ever bought a ticket to see us in a show.”

Layton Williams commented: “This is from us. For the fans. It’s a place you can come, be fabulous, be free, and be yourself.”

Jenna Russell enthused: “Let’s celebrate the joy that is musical theatre!”

Alice Fearn said: “There will be so much to see. So much to do. It’s going to be great!”

West End Musical Productions (West End Musical Drive In, West End Musical Celebration) will organise Musical Con with the support of the Society of London Theatre (SOLT).
