Six The Musical is to open on Broadway in 2020, it’s been announced.
Nominated for five Olivier Awards, SIX turns Tudor queens into pop princesses as 500 years of historical heartbreak becomes an hour of 21st century sass.
The show – written and composed by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss – has become a huge hit since first premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2017.
Six The Musical is currently playing an extended run in the West End at the Arts Theatre, with performances currently booking until July 2020.
Earlier this year it hosted its US premiere in Chicago and now a Broadway transfer has been announced.
Previews will begin in February before the show officially opens at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on March 12, 2020.
Moss told the New York Times: “This is obviously the craziest thing that’s ever happened to us.”
Casting for the Broadway run has yet to be confirmed although it’s been announced that the current UK Queens will be staying in London.
“The casting for Broadway has not been confirmed yet, however we can confirm that it won’t be the current UK Queens heading to Broadway – London loves them too much to lose them!” Six The Musical said on social media.
Alongside the upcoming Broadway production and ongoing London run, a Six The Musical UK tour will begin in October in Guildford.
The 2019/2020 UK tour of Six will then head to cities including Malvern, Glasgow, Kingston, Oxford, Milton Keynes, Salford, Edinburgh, Bath, Southampton and many more.
