Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella musical to close in West End in June

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella musical is to play its final West End performance in June.

The new show, which opened at London’s Gillian Lynne Theatre in August 2021, will bow out on 12 June.

Teased as a new, modern spin on the all time classic fairytale, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella features music from Webber with lyrics by David Zippel and an original story and book by Emerald Fennel.

Carrie Hope Fletcher stars in the title role of Cinderella.

Also on the cast are Victoria Hamilton-Barritt in the role of the Stepmother with Ivano Turco playing Prince Sebastian, brother to Prince Charming.

The full company also includes Rebecca Trehearn as the Queen, Gloria Onitiri as the Godmother and Laura Baldwin and Georgina Castle as the Stepsisters.

While it may be the end of Cinderella’s West End run the show is set to open on Broadway in 2023 with plans for a March opening.

In a statement to The Stage, Lloyd Webber said: “I am really excited to get to work putting together a new production with [production company] No Guarantees for Broadway.

“Thank you very much to everyone involved, particularly our UK audiences who have loved and supported the show. See you next March on Broadway.”

An original studio cast album was released last summer to stream, download and buy on CD and Vinyl.
