Dave Malloy’s Preludes London premiere cast and tickets

Dave Malloy’s musical Preludes is coming to the UK – here’s all you need to know.

Written and composed by Dave Malloy, Preludes is a musical fantasia set in the mind of Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. The plot follows Rachmaninoff as he undertakes hypnotherapy sessions to help overcome depressive paranoia and anxiety.

A mixture of Rachmaninoff and Malloy’s own composition combine to create a dream-like world which has won critical acclaim since its original premiere in New York in 2015.

Preludes UK cast

The cast for Preludes features Rebecca Caine as Dahl, Norton James as Chaliapin, Georgia Louise plays Natalya, Tom Noyes as Rachmaninoff, Keith Ramsay plays Rach and Tim Walton as The Master.

Alex Sutton directs with set and costume design from Rebecca Brower, lighting design from Christopher Nairne, sound design from Andrew Johnson, choreography by Ste Clough, musical direction from Jordan Li-Smith and casting by Danielle Tarento.

Dave Malloy said: “I am so so thrilled and tickled to see Preludes be given new life in this London premiere.

“It’s a very personal piece for me, wrestling with all the things it is to be an artist and a human, and the score features my music entwined with Rachmaninoff’s work, some of the most romantic and rousing piano music I know. I cannot wait to come to Southwark Playhouse and see this show reimagined by this amazing new team.”
