A new musical adaption of 101 Dalmatians will run at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2020.
The Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has announced their 2020 season which will open with the newly commissioned musical.
Based on Dodie Smith’s iconic story set in the heart of Regent’s Park 101 Dalmatians will run between May 16 and June 21.
The new adaption features a book by Zinnie Harris and music and lyrics by Douglas Hodge. The production is directed by Timothy Sheader, with puppetry designed and directed by Toby Olié.
Further creatives include set and costume design from Katrina Lindsay, choreography from Liam Steel, music supervision and orchestrations from Sarah Travis, lighting from Howard Hudson and musical direction from Tarek Merchant.
Casting, to be announced, is by Jill Green, with children’s casting by Verity Naughton.
Performances will run Tuesday – Sunday at 7.45PM with Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday matinees at 2.15PM. There will be no matinees 16, 20, 23 or 27 May and no evening performances on 17 or 24 May.
Also announced for the 2020 Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre season are Romeo and Juliet.
Shakespeare’s timeless story of forbidden love will be directed by Kimberley Sykes and run from June 27 through to 25 July.
Director Timothy Sheader and choreographer Drew McOnie will then bring Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel to the stage between July 31 and September 19.
