Aimie Atkinson is to depart the cast of Six The Musical in London’s West End.
The actress originated the role of Katherine Howard in the West End and will play her final performance on October 13.
Current understudy/alternate Vicki Manser will takeover in the role until December 15.
A statement posted on social media read: “After nearly 2 years since originating the role of Katherine Howard in SIX we are sad to say that the wonderful Aimie Atkinson will be saying farewell to the Queendom on October 13th.
“We are sorry to see her leave but wish her all the best as she takes a break from the show.
“The role of Katherine Howard will be played by Vicki Manser until Dec 15th (schedule subject to change).”
The news follows a previous announcement that Atkinson’s fellow current cast members Millie O’Connell and Maiya Quansah-Breed would also be leaving on October 13.
Courtney Bowman will take over from O’Connell in the role of Anne Boleyn and Danielle Steers is replacing Quansah-Breed as Catherine Parr.
Atkinson, O’Connell and Quansah-Breed will all play their final performances on Sunday, 13 October before Steers and Bowman take over alongside Manser from Tuesday 15 October.
Nominated for five Olivier Awards, SIX turns Tudor queens into pop princesses as 500 years of historical heartbreak becomes an hour of 21st century sass.
The show – written and composed by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss – has become a huge hit since first premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2017.
As well as the West End production, a new Six The Musical UK tour will begin performances later this year.
And in 2020, the show will open on Broadway, playing at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre from March 12, 2020.
