Everybody’s Talking About Jamie holding open auditions for new Jamie

The West End production of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie has announced open auditions to find a new Jamie.

Producers have revealed they are on the search for a talented actor to play the title role of Jamie New from January 2020, with rehearsal starting in December this year.

Auditions will take place in Sheffield at the Crucible Theatre on 8 October and at the Apollo Theatre in London on 10 October.

Hopefuls wanting to audition are asked to prepare 16 bars of the musicals opening number Don’t Even Know It.

The new leading man will take over the role from Layton Williams who is leaving to join the musical’s new UK tour cast alongside Shane Richie.

News of the open Everybody’s Talking About Jamie auditions comes as the show also announces it is extending its West End run until September 2020.

Producer Nica Burns said: “We are delighted to be extending and playing our third year at the Apollo. We have found some fantastic young performers to join Layton Williams and Shane Richie on tour.

“In the spirit of this musical, we are opening the doors to unknown talent alongside today’s young professionals in the search for our new Jamie.”

Inspired by a true story, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie has proved a hit on the West End ever since opening in 2017.

Supported by his brilliant loving mum and surrounded by his friends, 16-year-old Jamie overcomes prejudice, beats the bullies and steps out of the darkness, into the spotlight.
