A Christmas Carol at The Old Vic returns for 2023 – here’s all you need to know.

A Christmas Carol returns to the venue for a seventh consecutive year from 11 November 2023 through to 6 January 2024. Tickets are on sale now here.

Matthew Warchus’ production of Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol is adapted for the stage by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child).

Christopher Eccleston will star as Scrooge in the 2023 production.

He said: “As a child, I read and watched every and any version of A Christmas Carol because of a fascination with Scrooge’s psychology. As a young actor, I read everything I could about the legendary Old Vic. I’m a very lucky man to be part of this production and cannot wait to meet our audiences.”

Performances ate Monday -Saturday at 7PM with 2PM matinees throughout the run.

Joining Eccleston on the cast are Jeremy Batt (Swing), Rob Compton (Bob Cratchit), Geraint Downing (Ferdy/George), James Hume (Nicholas), Hana Ichijo (Jess), Jessica Joslin (Mrs Cratchit), Julie Jupp (Ghost of Christmas Past), Gemma Knight Jones (Ghost of Christmas Present/Mrs Fezziwig), Andrew Langtree (Father/Marley), Matthew Maddison (Young Ebenezer), Frances McNamee (Belle), Rachel Moran (Dance Captain/Swing), Alastair Parker (Fezziwig), Rose Shalloo (Little Fan) and Samuel Townsend (Fred).

The role of Tiny Tim will be shared by Casey-Indigo Blackwood-Lashley, Alexander Joseph, Freddie Marshall-Ellis and Freddie Merritt

The production has set and costume design by Rob Howell, music by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, sound by Simon Baker, movement by Lizzi Gee, voice by Charlie Hughes-D’Arth, dialect by Penny Dyer, musical direction by Katharine Woolley, associate direction by Joe Austin and and Simon Greiff with casting by Jessica Ronane.

The Old Vic’s A Christmas Carol starts previews from 11 November 2023 and plays through to 6 January 2024.
