Waitress to close in London's West End on July 4 ahead of UK tour

Waitress is to close in London’s West End on July 4 2020, it’s been announced.

The hit musical will then tour the UK from autumn, with plans for a return to the West End after.

The UK tour will visit Manchester, Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Glasgow, Plymouth, Dartford, Eastbourne, Liverpool, Woking, Stoke, Ipswich, Aberdeen, Bristol, Canterbury, Dublin, Nottingham, Cardiff, Truro, Llandudno, Leeds, Hull, Southend, Wolverhampton, Oxford, Edinburgh, Southampton, Northampton, Crawley, Sunderland, Wimbledon, Bromley and Sheffield.

Dates and tickets will be announced in due course.

Meanwhile a new cast has been confirmed for the show from December 2.

Making up the company will be Piers Bate, Cindy Belliot, Andrew Boyer, Tamlyn Henderson, David Hunter, Lucie Jones, Sandra Marvin, Joel Montague, Olivia Moore, Ben Morris, Nathaniel Morrison, Rosemary Nkrumah, Sarah O’Connor, Leanne Pinder, Matthew Rowland, Laura Selwood, Richard Taylor Woods, Hannah Tointon, Lucia De Wan, Mark Willshire and Madison Worley.

Based on the film of the same name, Waitress tells the story of Jenna a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and rocky marriage.

The musical features a Tony and Grammy nominated score by Sara Bareilles, a book by Jessie Nelson and direction by Diane Paulus.

It was recently announced that Bareilles would join the cast in the West End in January 2020 alongside Gavin Creel.

The pair will appear in the roles of Jenna and Dr Pomatter from January 27th.

They will takeover Lucie Jones and David Hunter in the roles in London through to March 7. Jones and Hunter will return to the roles of Jenna and Dr Pomatter on 9 March.
