Carrie Hope Fletcher to star in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella in West End

Carrie Hope Fletcher is to star in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new adaption of Cinderella.

A new, modern spin on the all time classic fairytale will premiere at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in September.

The new musical will replace School Of Rock which confirmed its final performance date earlier this year for March 1, 2020.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella features music from Webber with lyrics by David Zippel and an original story and book by Emerald Fennel.

Carrie Hope Fletcher (Heathers, Les Misérables) will play the title role, it has been confirmed.

Lloyd Webber said: “I’m absolutely thrilled that Carrie will be our Cinderella at the Gillian Lynne Theatre this autumn. She has totally wowed my fellow writers and creative team and was a big success at the sing-through of the show late last year.

“I am hugely confident that she will make this new take on Cinderella very much her own, and I’m looking forward to working and recording with her as soon as possible.”

Further casting is to be confirmed.

Laurence Connor will direct having previously collaborated with Webber on the recent Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat revival as well as School Of Rock.
