Watch Moulin Rouge! The Musical opening number as show confirms West End run

Moulin Rouge! The Musical has showcased a taster of its grand opening number.

The hit stage adaption of the Oscar-winning film made its debut on Broadway last summer.

A West End production was previously announced to open at the Piccadilly Theatre in 2021.

Before the show arrives in London you can get a first look at the musical with a performance of the opening number.

Featuring the original Broadway cast, the performance features the songs Lady Marmalade, So Fresh, So Clean, Money (That’s What I Want, Let’s Dance and Burning Down The House.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical is based on the 2001 film Moulin Rouge! directed by Baz Luhrmann and written by Luhrmann and Craig Pearce.

The new jukebox musical features a book by John Logan with a score made up of pop-rock songs from artists including Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Sia, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Elton John, Lorde, The White Stripes and The Police.

It tells the story of Christian who falls in love with actress and courtesan Satine, star of Paris cabaret venue Moulin Rouge.

Tickets for the London production are expected to go on sale later this year.
