& Juliet musical review – ★★★★★

A jukebox musical done right at the Shaftesbury Theatre, London's West End

& Juliet is the brand new musical taking the West End by storm – and with good reason.

The musical takes the form of a play within a play as we see William Shakespeare (Oliver Tompsett) and his wife Anne Hathaway (Cassidy Janson) rewrite and act out his famous tale of star crossed lovers Romeo & Juliet.

In their newly revised version, Juliet (Miriam-Teak Lee) opts not to take her own life upon finding her lover seemingly dead but instead sets out a whole new life for herself – and some new friends – in Paris.

The story is told with a score of modern pop hits by legendary music producer Max Martin from Bon Jovi’s It’s My Life to Britney Spear’s Oops!… I Did It Again.

It’s a risky concept and there’s so much that could have gone so wrong – but this is a jukebox musical done so right.

With a cast that shows no shortage of energy, & Juliet has more than enough hilarious laughs, heart-warming moments and show stopping songs to justify a trip to the Shaftesbury Theatre.
