City of Angels is returning to London’s West End – here’s all you need to know.

Josie Rourke’s production returns to the West End at the Garrick Theatre after running at the Donmar Warehouse in 2014.

City of Angels – music by Coleman, lyrics by David Zippel and a book by Larry Gelbart – interweaves two plots, one following the writing of a screenplay in the legendary Hollywood of the 40s; the other, the enactment of that screenplay.

The musical begins previews from March 6, 2020 and is currently booking through to September 5 2020.

The show will play London’s Garrick Theatre on 2 Charing Cross Road, WC2H 0HH. The theatre is a few minutes walk from either the Leicester Square, Charing Cross or Embankment tube stations.

The standard performance schedule is Monday – Saturday 7:30PM with Thursday & Saturday matinees at 2:30PM.

It has a running time of 2 hours, 40 minutes including one interval.

Nicola Roberts, who rose to fame as part of girl group Girls Aloud, will appear in the role of Avril/Mallory while Vanessa Williams will play Carly/Alaura with both making their West End debuts. Both will appear through to July 25.

They join a cast that also features Rosalie Craig*^ as Gabby/Bobbi, Rebecca Trehearn as Donna/Oolie and Hadley Fraser as Stine.

Further casting includes Theo James* as Stone, Jonathan Slinger as Buddy Fiddler, Marc Elliott as Panchos/Munoz, Nick Cavaliere as Sonny, Adam Fogarty as Big Six, Mark Penfold as Luther Kingsley, Rob Houchen* as Jimmy/Dr Mandril and Joshua St Clair as Peter Kingsley.

Cindy Bellot, Sadie-Jean Shirley, Manuel Pacific and Ryan Reid will play the Angel City 4.

*Theo James, Rosalie Craig and Rob Houchen will be in the show until 30th May
^Rosalie Craig won’t perform the role of Gabby/Bobbi on Monday evenings from March 30.

Ahead of the opening, director Josie Rourke shared a first listen to the cast in rehearsals.

“Good Morning, I believe that the world needs Theo James and ⁦[Hadley Fraser]⁩ singing “You’re Nothing Without Me” at the first cast and band rehearsal,” she wrote alongside the clip which you can watch below.
