Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s new 101 Dalmatians musical has been confirmed for the venue’s 2022 season.
Originally due to run in 2020 the show was previously postponed until May 2021 before being cancelled again due to the pandemic.
Third time lucky, the production will finally go ahead in 2022 from 12 July to 28 August.
The new musical adaption of Dodie Smith’s novel features a book by Johnny McKnight and music and lyrics by Douglas Hodge based on a stage adaptation by Zinnie Harris. The production is directed by Timothy Sheader, with puppetry designed and directed by Toby Olié.
Further creatives include set design from Colin Richmond, costume design from Katrina Lindsay, choreography from Liam Steel, music supervision and orchestrations from Sarah Travis, lighting from Howard Hudson, musical direction from Tarek Merchant, assistant choreographer Tash Holway, sound design from Nick Lidster for Autograph (sound designer) and costume design by Katrina Lindsay. The casting director is Jill Green CDG with Verity Naughton & Nick Hockaday for Verity Naughton Casting as children’s casting director.
The original production was to star Kate Fleetwood (Macbeth, London Road) in the iconic role of Cruella de Vil. Casting for 2022 is to be announced.
