Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera is streaming its 25th anniversary special online.

After being made available to watch for free over the weekend, you can now rent or buy the digital download via Amazon Prime Video here.

Originally filmed at the Royal Albert Hall in 2011, The Phantom of the Opera’s 25th anniversary special stars Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess as the Phantom and Christine respectively.

It’s was the latest musical made temporarily available for free as part of new online series The Shows Must Go On which is making a selection of works available to watch online.

The show was available for 24 hours in the UK and 48 hours in all other countries

During the free watch period, viewers are encouraged to show their support by making a donation to charities alongside each video, including Acting for Others, Broadway Cares and Actors Benevolent Fund.

Featuring lyrics from Charles Hart and Richard Stilgoe with a book by Stilgoe and Lloyd Webber, The Phantom Of The Opera is based on the French novel of the same name by Gaston Leroux.

It tells the story of soprano singer Christine Daaé who becomes the obsession of a masked musical genius who resides beneath a Paris opera house.

The streaming of Phantom follows the 2000 adaptation of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat which stars Donny Osmond, Joan Collins and Richard Attenborough.

The 2012 production of Jesus Christ Superstar – with Tim Minchin, Mel C and Chris Moyles – also aired previously.

Further musicals in the series will be confirmed in due course.

Meanwhile, alongside full musicals, the new YouTube channel will share famous performances and behind-the-scenes clips from musical productions.
