Watch West End cast of Mamma Mia! perform together in lockdown

The current West End cast of Mamma Mia! has got together for a lockdown performance.

The production, currently at the Novello Theatre, recently celebrated 21 years of performances having first debuted on April 6, 1999 on at the Prince Edward Theatre.

While on-going performances have been cancelled due to the current theatre shutdown, the cast have shared a special performance from isolation.

Mamma Mia! features music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus with a book by Catherine Johnson, direction from Phyllida Lloyd and choreography from Anthony Van Laast.

It’s proved a huge hit with both audiences and critics ever since premiering in 1999, securing four Olivier Award nominations including Best New Musical.

Set on a Greek island paradise, Mamma Mia! cleverly tells a story of love, friendship and identity through the timeless songs of ABBA.

Sophie’s quest to discover the father she’s never known brings her mother face to face with three men from her distant romantic past on the eve of a wedding they’ll never forget!

Alongside the West End run, Mamma Mia! is currently touring the UK in 2020 and into 2021.
