This year’s West End Live has been postponed but the show will go on online.
A Virtual West End Live will take place over the course of six weeks in partnership with Sky.
Sky customers will be able to enjoy the drama, the glitz and glam, the razzle-dazzle and the best of the West End in the comfort of their homes.
A series of weekly performances will air via Sky VIP every Thursday night for 6 weeks from leading talent from the nation’s favourite West End Shows, including, &Juliet, SIX, and Mamma Mia. The first performance will take place on Thursday 21st May.
All Sky customers can join Sky VIP for free on the My Sky App with more information available online here.
Meanwhile, the performances will be available for everyone to watch online via YouTube after the weekend of June 20/21 – the original planned date of this year’s West End Live.
In addition, two special highlights shows will be streamed online featuring performances from the last 5 years.
They will be available to watch on the West End LIVE Facebook page for 24 hours only, with one released on the Saturday June 20 and the other on the Sunday June 21, with timings to be confirmed.
As for whether or not West End Live will take place in its usual form this year, it remains to be seen.
In a statement, organisers said: “We understand how disappointing this news will be to you all but rest assured it is not a decision that has been taken lightly.
“However, the health advice is clear, so we felt it better to act now and ensure our loyal fan base – some of whom travel from far and wide – can plan accordingly.”
