The piece by Suzie Miller opened at the Harold Pinter Theatre on 15 April 2022.

Directed by Justin Martin, the production has set and costume design by Miriam Buether and lighting design by Natasha Chivers. Rebecca Lucy Taylor – the Brit Award nominated star of Self Esteem – will compose music with sound designers Max and Ben Ringham, video by Treatment Studio and voice coach Zabarjad Salam.

Tessa is a thoroughbred. A young, brilliant barrister. She has worked her way up from working class origins to be at the top of her game; prosecuting; cross examining and winning. An unexpected event forces her to confront the lines where the patriarchal power of the law, burden of proof and morals diverge.

Prima Facie London reviews

The Guardian – 4/5
“Comer delivers. She roars through Suzie Miller’s script. The play roars, too, sometimes too loudly in its polemic, but Comer works overtime to elevate these moments.” – Read the full review

The Times – 4/5
“If you’ve seen Jodie Comer play the murderous Villanelle in Killing Eve you’ll know she is a gifted shapeshifter. Nothing, though, can quite prepare you for the range, energy, resilience, emotional clarity and sheer presence she offers in this play by the Australian lawyer turned writer Suzie Miller.” – Read the full review

The Telegraph – 4/5
“[Comer’s] performance, running a full-pelt 100 minutes, propels her into the front rank of stage stars.” – Read the full review

WhatsOnStage- 4/5
“With Comer as its protagonist, blazing away, it is impossible to avert your gaze. She brings its arguments to forceful life and in the process creates an unforgettable moment of theatre.” – Read the full review

Evening Standard – 4/5
“Comer is the reason we’re here. Her commitment made the production happen and kept it alive through delays. We all wanted to know if she’s as good live on stage as she is on screen. And the answer is no: she’s better.” – Read the full review
