Amélie and Prince Of Egypt London cast recordings nominated for Grammys

The London cast recordings of Amélie and Prince Of Egypt have both been nominated for Grammy Awards.

The albums featuring the original London casts have both received nods in the Best Musical Theatre Album category.

Also nominated is the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Jagged Little Pill, the Original Cast Recording of American Utopia on Broadway, the New Off-Broadway Cast Recording of Little Shop of Horrors and the Original Off-Broadway Cast Recording of Soft Power.

The winner will be announced at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards on 31 January, 2021.

The Amélie The Musical London cast recording was released in the summer. Based on the Academy Award and BAFTA nominated 2001 romantic comedy film, Amélie features music by Daniel Messé, lyrics by Messé and Nathan Tysen and a book by Craig Lucas.

The musical concluded a run at The Other Palace in February following a first UK tour and picked up a trio of nominations including Best Musical at the 2020 Olivier Awards.

Talented French-Canadian actress Audrey Brisson played the title role in the production with Chris Jared, Caolan McCarthy & Jez Unwin also nominated as principal soloists.

The The Prince of Egypt Original Cast Recording was recently released on CD following a digital release earlier this year. Adapted from the 1998 DreamWorks animated movie, The Prince of Egypt musical opened at the Dominion Theatre in London in February.

The stage adaption features ten new songs from Stephen Schwartz alongside the original five songs the Wicked composer penned for the movie, including Oscar-winning track When You Believe.

The original West End London cast of The Prince of Egypt musical features Christine Allado as Tzipporah, Alexia Khadime, as Miriam, Luke Brady as Moses and Liam Tamne as Ramses.
