Cyrano de Bergerac returns to West End with James McAvoy

Cyrano de Bergerac will return to London’s West End in 2022, it’s been announced.

James McAvoy will star in The Jamie Lloyd Company production at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London from 3 February to 12 March.

The production will then visit Theatre Royal Glasgow (18 – 26 March) before completing its run in New York at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), 5 April – 22 May 2022.

Alongside James McAvoy (Cyrano de Bergerac), the cast will feature Michele Austin (Ragueneau), Adam Best (Le Bret), Sam Black (Armand), Nari Blair-Mangat (Valvert), Vaneeka Dadhria (Beatboxer), Adrian Der Gregorian (Montfleury), Tom Edden (De Guiche), Eben Figueiredo (Christian), Carla Harrison-Hodge (Denise), Mika Onyx Johnson (Usher), Nima Taleghani (Ligniere), Brinsley Terence (Theatre Owner), Jon Furlong (Annoying Person), Tazmyn-May Gebbett (Minder), Joseph Langdon (Jean-Paul), Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Marie-Louise) and Evelyn Miller (Roxane).

Jamie Lloyd directs with design by Soutra Gilmour; lighting design by Jon Clark; sound and composition by Ben and Max Ringham; fight movement by Kate Waters; casting by Stuart Burt CDG; additional movement by Polly Bennett; costume supervision by Anna Josephs; props supervision by Lily Molgaard; associate direction by Rupert Hands; assistant direction by Nari Blair-Mangat and associate design by Rachel Wingate.

Fierce with a pen and notorious in combat, Cyrano almost has it all — if only he could win the heart of his true love. There’s just one big problem: he has a nose as huge as his heart. Will a society engulfed by narcissism get the better of De Bergerac — or can his mastery of language set Roxane’s world alight?

Tickets for Cyrano de Bergerac in the UK will be available to ATG Theatre Card Members on Monday 1 November at 10AM, and those signed up for priority booking at 12PM; general booking opens Wednesday 3 November at 10AM; and for BAM will be available to theatre members on 3 November, American Express Card Members on 10 November, with general booking from 15 November.

As part of its commitment to accessible tickets, The Jamie Lloyd Company has announced there will be 12,000 £15 tickets available across the UK dates of Cyrano de Bergerac as well as its upcoming production of The Seagull.

Edmond Rostand’s Cyrano de Bergerac previously ran at The Playhouse Theatre from November 2019 to February 2020.
