Dear Evan Hansen 2021 release date in the UK

The Dear Evan Hansen 2021 film is on its way – here’s a first look trailer!

With a score written by The Greatest Showman songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and a book by Steven Levenson, Dear Evan Hansen has proved a huge hit on Broadway on the West End.

The Tony and Olivier Award winning musical is now heading to the big screen with a movie adaptation released in cinemas on 22 October in the UK and 24 September in the US.

The Dear Evan Hansen movie cast stars Ben Platt in the title role, reprising the part he originated on Broadway.

Julianne Moore appears as Evan’s mum Heidi with Kaitlyn Dever and Colton Ryan as Zoe and Connor Murphy.

Amy Adams and Danny Pino will play Zoe and Connor’s parents with Amandla Stenberg and Nik Dodani starring as Alana Beck and Jared Kleinman.

They’ll be joined by DeMarius Copes and Gerald Caesar in new roles for the film.

Dear Evan Hansen tells the story of socially awkward teenager Evan. In his last year of high school and with only one person he considers a friend, an assignment from his therapist leads to a misunderstanding that casts him in the centre of a tragedy.

The musical’s original book writer Steven Levenson has penned the screenplay and Pasek & Paul will return to work on the music with new songs set to feature.

The West End production of Dear Evan Hansen will reopen in London in October while the Broadway production will resume performances in December.
