Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of) to close in West End in February ahead of UK tour

Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of) has announced it will end its current West End run in February.

Adapted by Isobal McArthur from Jane Austen’s novel, Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of) sees an all female cast tell the classic romantic story, with added karaoke.

The show has been playing at the Criterion Theatre since October but will end its run on Sunday 6 February.

Producer David Pugh said the decision was forced to be made due to lack of audiences throughout the West End following the government’s implementation of Plan B Covid restrictions.

In a post on Twitter, he shared: “Since plan b was introduced by the government audiences stopped coming to the West End and we can no longer sustain the enormous losses. Please come and see us before we close.”

The show is set to return later this year with a major UK tour opening at the Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh in September before returning to London’s West End at a later date.

Ticket holders for the cancelled performances will be contacted by their points of purchase.

The current West End cast features McArthur as Darcy and Mrs Bennet, Tori Burgess as Mr Collins, Christina Gordon as Lady Catherine de Bourgh and Jane, Hannah Jarrett-Scott as Charlotte and Charles Bingley and Meghan Tyler as Lizzie Bennet.

McArthur also co-directs with Simon Harvey with comedy staging by Jos Houben, design by Ana Inés Jabares-Pita, lighting by Colin Grenfell, musical supervision by Michael John McCarthy, sound design by Michael John McCarthy and Luke Swaffield for Autograph and choreography by Emily-Jane Boyle.
