Rafe Spall to star in To Kill a Mockingbird in London’s West End

Rafe Spall is to lead the cast of To Kill a Mockingbird in London’s West End.

Spall will take on the role of Atticus Finch in the West End transfer of the hit Broadway play.

Originally intending to open in May 2020, performances are now scheduled to begin at the Gielgud Theatre from 10 March, 2022. Tickets are on sale now here.

Further casting is to be revealed.

The production is directed by Bartlett Sher with production design by Miriam Buether, costume design by Ann Roth, lighting by Jennifer Tipton, sound by Scott Lehrer and an original score by Adam Guettel.

To Kill a Mockingbird is a play based on the 1960 novel of the same name by Harper Lee, adapted for the stage by Aaron Sorkin.

Exploring racial injustice in 1930s America, the piece follows lawyer Atticus Finch’s attempts to prove the innocence of a black man falsely accused of rape.

The play first opened on Broadway in 2018 where it was nominated for nine Tony awards.
