Watch new behind scenes video from the Cats movie

A new behind the scenes look at the 2019 Cats movie has been revealed.

Since its world premiere in 1981, the musical Cats has become a worldwide hit with productions in over 30 countries seen by more than 70 million people.

Now a film adaption of the stage musical is on its way to cinemas, with a current UK release scheduled for December, 2019.

The Cats movie features an all star cast including Taylor Swift as Bombalurina, Ian McKellen as Gus the Theatre Cat, James Jordan as Bustopher Jones and Jennifer Hudson as Grizabella.

A new behind the scenes teaser trailer has this week been revealed, which you can watch below…

In the clip, Swift says: “If you told me I was gonna get to be a cat for work… what?!”

Corden adds: “‘We’re going to take a load of people and they’re going to pretend to be cats…’ if yo say it out loud it’s bonkers, but that’s where the most fun happens.”

With a score composed by the legendary Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, the musical tells the tale of a group of so-called Jellicle cats deciding who will ascend to the Heaviside Layer.

Further casting includes Rebel Wilson as Jennyanydots, Idris Elba as Macavity, Judi Dench as Old Deuteronomy, Jason Derulo as Rum Tum Tugge and Ray Winstone as Growltiger

Joining them are Royal Ballet principal dancers Francesca Hayward and Steven McRae as Victoria and Skimbleshanks respectively.

The movie will be directed by Tom Hooper, who previously directed the Les Misérables film adaption, with screenplay by Hooper together with Lee Hall.

The Cats film is currently scheduled for release in the UK on December 20, 2019, by Universal Pictures.
